Freeze

Vertex map growing with each animation image.

The Freeze Layer is a special layer and is primarily used for these purposes:

  • many tags can be painted manually (e.g. with a Vertex Map). If fields now take command of the tag, the original weighting would be lost. To prevent this from happening, a Freeze Layer with the painted weighting is created when the Activate Fields option is activated ("Base" tab).
  • it can be used to create - harmless - recursion effects such as spreading vertex-map weightings, colors, values, etc.
  • a Freeze Layer can be created at any time (and not only when used within tags), which saves the current field list status and can then be used like any other layer.

How do you proceed if you want to grow a vertex map, for example?

  1. Create a vertex map for the object by briefly performing a small weighting using Paint Tool.
  2. Switch to the Vertex Map Tag and activate Transfer Fields. You can already see a Freeze Layer in the "Fields" tab. Select these.
  3. In their "Layer" tab, set Mode to Grow.
  4. Create a random field and drag it onto the "Radius" subfield to subordinate it to this.
  5. Select the random field and select Noise for Random Mode to ensure irregular growth.
  6. Play the animation, the vertex map weights should now grow (otherwise adjust the Radius).

Example

Beautiful growth effects can be realized with the Freeze Layer.
