Here you can link the geometry where polygons should be extruded on the inside.
If not all elements of the geometry should be extruded to the inside, you can make a selection here of the polygons that should be used. For example, an Index Array From String Node, for which you can enter the indices of the desired polygons, can be used for this. Alternatively, Extrude Inner will automatcally accesses a selection created using the Active Selection Node if no Selection was linked at the Node itself and the term default is entered for the Selection String.
Here you can, for example, use the name of a selection in quotation marks that you want to read out, e.g., "MySelection". Otherwise, the default entry will use an active selection on the geometry.
You can also use special keywords and logical operations here to create a new selection from scratch or a combination of already saved selections. The following keywords and operations can be used:
- Default: This term causes an active selection currently present on the geometry to be used. If no selection is active, all points will be used.
- odd: This term is used to select all elements that have an odd index number.
- even: This term is used to select all elements that have an even index number.
- all: This selects all elements of the selected type.
- hidden: Selects the hidden elements of the geometry.
- Name of a saved selection: If you enter the name of a saved selection in quotation marks, this selection will be read and used. To use a combination of a saved selection and another keyword or selection, use quotation marks with the selection name.
- Index numbers: You can also use index numbers directly, just as you are used to from the Index Array From String Node.
- Mathematical and logical operations: Mathematical or logical operations can be used to combine selections. Using the string odd – "center" for instance selects all odd elements and then subtracts the selection that has been stored by the name "center". You can use +, -, & (logical and), | (logical or) as well as a comma to combine multiple selections or index sequences.
If Proportional is disabeld, enter the amount of inside extrusion as the absolute distance value. If you extrude several polygons at the same time it can become difficult to find a suitable extrusion value. For small surfaces, the extruded area is already shrunk to point size, but in large polygons the extruded area may have only moved a little from the original polygon size. It will be more difficult to prevent self-overlaps and overlaps in the extruded geometry. The situation is different when Proportional is enabled. The intensity of the extrusion is then controlled by a percentage value related to the size of the respective polygon.
Here you can define the distance at which the extruded polygon should move away from the originally selected polygon. Unlike the Extrude" function, only a scaling of the extruded area will take place. There will be no displacement along the normal. Depending on the state of the Proportional option, the scaling will be output absolutely or as a percentage value.
You can use this value if you do not want all internally extruded elements to have the same value. Inset Variation define sthe maximum percentage of deviation from the extrusion. The maximum of the effect is defined by Extrude Inner. So the Extrude Inner variation only dfines the smallest possible Inner Extrude value.
This can be used to calculate additional subdivisions along the inner extrusion.
If Per Step is enabled, the subdivision number will be used as a multiplier for the inner extrusion. The internally extruded elements will be moved accordingly.
Enable this option if you want the extrusion to be calculated automatically as often as defined by the Subdivision setting. The maximum scale of the originally-selected polygons results from the multiplication of Extrude Inner and Subdivision.
Lets you add polygons automatically using Subdivision that are combined into an N-gon per extruded edge of a polygon.
Normally, all polygons will be treated individually. For curved surfaces, the internally extruded polygons will separate and only result in a denser subdivision of the original surfaces. Activate Preserve groups.if you also want the polygons extruded inside to remain connected to their neighboring polygons. Maximum Angle can be used to define the angle between adjacent surfaces above which they are to be extruded again separately.
If Get Groups is enabled when extruding polygons internally, you can use this angle to define the angle between polygons up to which they should still be processed contiguously.
