Tag Properties
Select the relevant Align To Spline tag and then drag the Spline object from the Object manager and drop it into the Spline Path box on the Attribute Manager's tag page.
You can optionally use a rail path. Drag the spline that you want to act as the rail from the Object Manager into the Rail Path box on the Attribute Manager's tag page. This has a similar effect to the Align To Path tag in the sense that the object's Z axis remains parallel to the spline's tangent at all times and in addition, its X-axis is aligned with the Rail spline.
The Rail Spline can often be created simply from a duplicated Spline Path by moving the control points in the appropriate direction. For simple paths, it may be sufficient to simply scale the spline.
By animating the Rail Path (right-click on Rail Path: Animation / Add Key), the object can also align itself to different splines within an animation.
If you enable Tangential, the effect is similar to that of the Align To Path tag, i.e., the object's X, Y or Z axis is aligned to the rail path.

These options can be used to determine what happens if Position is set to less than 0% or greater than 100%::
- Loop: For closed splines, a constant, repetitive movement will be created. For closed splines, the object being controlled will move back to the spline start and end point, respectively.
- Extend: The object being controlled will move tangentially awayfrom the spline start/end and will no longer be bound to the spline.
- Clamp: The object to which the tag is assigned will move between 0% and 100%, deviating values will be ignored and it will remain at the sline start or end. Regardless of what is done with the F-Curves, spline start and end will not be exceeded.
Values less than 0% and greater then 100% can be used, whereby constant, repetitive movements are possible with closed splines. For open splines, the controlled object will jump back to the spline beginning or end and will continue its movement from that point on.
Splines may consist of multiple segments. Use this parameter to choose which segment the spline follows.
This setting is available when Tangential is enabled. It defines the axis with which it will follow the Rail path.
