Time

Enter the time for the sun light using the upper three Time boxes (from left to right: hours, minutes, seconds). Enter the date using the lower three Time boxes (from left to right: day, month, year). You can also set the date with the help of a calendar. To display the calendar, click the triangle next to the input boxes. To use the system's current time, click the Now button.

If you want you can add any number of separators such as , . /.

This applies to all input fields in Cinema 4D with regard to date and time.

Animate Time

Animate Date

Imagine you have to time keys and the 1st has the values: 22.07 8.54 and the 2nd: 26.09 18.54. If you want to interpolate between these two times, unpredictable intermediate times would result. Using these two options you can define which time components should be interpolated.

Latitude[-90..90°]

Enter the desired location for the geographical latitude on the Earth's surface. This would, for example, be 51,3° for London, 40,5° for New York, 35,4° for Tokyo and 50,1° for Friedrichsdorf, Germany.

Longitude[-180..180°]

Here you can enter the geographical longitude for the desired location on the Earth's surface. 0° would, for example, be Greenwich Mean Time, negative values to the West and positive values to the East.

Distance[0..+∞m]

Here you enter the distance of the sun light source from the center of the world axes. The smaller this value, the smaller the circular arc on which the sun travels.

Examples:

1. You want to simulate three days — the sun should fall and rise three times. Enable both options.
   
   
2. You want to animate several months with the clock always at 12 o'clock in the daytime. Disable Interpolate Time. Enable Interpolate Date. This prevents the time from being animated while still allowing the data to change.

Set Light Color

If this option is enabled, Cinema 4D automatically adjusts the sun light's color to match the geographical position, time and date.
