Disconnect

This Node offers a comparable functionality to the Disconnect command of the Mesh menu and leads to the dissolution of the connections to neighboring polygons at the edge of the selection. This is possible because new points and edges are created for the edges of the selection. The original geometry therefore changes. The following image shows an example of this.

Note:

If you want to convert part of your geometry into a new geometry, you can use the Split Node instead. In contrast to detachment, the initial geometry remains unchanged.


On the left you can see the initial geometry with a colored polygon selection. When these polygons are moved, a part of the adjacent surfaces is dragged with them, as shown in the center of the illustration. However, if these surfaces are detached beforehand, they can easily be moved independently of the surrounding surfaces (right in the image).
