Op Input
Here you can connect the object or objects that you want to affect with a transformation. Depending on the mode selected, deformations as well as matrix modifications of an object distribution will be supported.
Here you can select the desired Effector. Functions are available here that are also available in the Effectors Node group. The following options are available:
- Bend: This function reflects that of the Bend Effector in the Effectors Node group
- Bulge: This function reflects that of the Bulge Effector in the Effectors Node group
- Effector Function: If this mode is selected, a transformation can be added, as you would, for example, expect from a Bend, Twist or Plain Effector.
- Effector Link: If this mode is selected, a second Effector Op Node can be added that was configured like the Effector Function type. This way you can, for example, configure a deformation independently of a distribution group or geometry and subsequently pass this to another object using a second Effector Op Node. This makes it easier to re-use the effect within a Node since an additional undocking of an effect's spatial position from the Fields or objects is possible.
- Spherify: This function reflects that of the Spherify Effector in the Effectors Node group
- Shear: This function reflects the function of the Shear Effector.
- Melt: This function reflects that of the Melt Effector in the Effectors Node group
- Plain Effector: This mode reflects the function of the Simple Effector in the Effectors Node group.
- Taper: This function reflects that of the Taper Effector in the Effectors Node group.
- Squash and Stretch: This function reflects that of the Squash and Stretch Effector in the Effectors Node group.
- Twist: This mode reflects the function of the Twist Effector in the Effectors Node group.
- Wind: This mode reflects the function of the Wind Effector in the Effectors Node group.
Each Effector Type has its own settings that for the most part should already be familiar to you from the Effectors group, where they are also described. Those not described there can be found below.
If this option is enabled, the visibility of the effect will be restricted to the position of the volume of the connected Field. If this option is disabled, the transformation and the connected Field will be treated as a coherent group, e.g., when the position of the Effector is modified.
Here you can select the type of effect you want. The Effector can, for example, be used to deform an object or to modify the placement of clones in a cluster. You can select from the following modes:
- Clone: Only the matrices of the input objects will be modified. The geometry will remain unchanged.
- Cloned Mesh: Both the matrices and the points of an object in a distribution will be affected and deformed by the Effector.
- Distribution: Use this mode if you want to change the position of distributed elements that are, for example, used to generate object copies. The geometry connected to the modified distributed elements will remain unchanged.
- Mesh: In this mode, the Effector Op Node can be used as a Deformer object to move the points of the connected geometry.
With this option, the effect of the Effector can also be applied to Child objects. This option can also be found as a hierarchy symbol next to the Effector in the Stack display of the Scene Manager.
This input is available if Effector Type is set to Effector Function. Here, the output of the same name of a given Node from the Effectors group can, for example, be connected to a Bend, Twist or Plain Effector.
Linked Effector Space
This option is only available if Effector Type is set to Effector Link and it will evaluate the linked Effector and its affected space, which will then be assumed.
Outputs
OP Output
This output contains various sub-outputs that, depending on the type of link at the OP Input. The matrices of objects or the indices of the processed distribution points can, for example, be output here.
Generally speaking, this output can, for example, also be connected directly with the scene (when objects or meshes on clones are deformed), or with an Op Input, e.g., of a Primitive Op Node if a distribution was processed. If Effector Type is set to Effector Function, the Op Output can in turn be connected to the Op Input of a second Effector Op Node that uses the Effector Link option.
