To weld multiple selected edges along an edge loop at the same time, this option must be enabled. Otherwise, only the edge dragged with the mouse will be merged, even if adjacent edges have also been selected.
This function is equivalent to holding down the Shift key and moves the entire UV island during merging, not just the edge area.
