FBX Import Settings
The importer supports the essential FBX properties. If the file is encrypted, you will be asked to enter the password.
If the FBX file contains several takes, these are assigned to the corresponding Cinema 4D Takes.
If the import of geometry objects, lights or cameras is deactivated, the corresponding objects are completely optimized out of the hierarchy. If one of the objects is the target of an alignment expression, Null objects are inserted.
Note that some render preset parameters (such as render frame rate and render resolution) are saved in FBX format as a camera property, i.e., an active camera should be present when exporting to FBX (if this is not the case, the editor camera will be used).
These values are then also taken from the active camera during the subsequent import.
Coordinate System
The data available in the right-hand system is converted into Cinema 4D's own left-hand system during import, meshes and the direction of rotation of the polygons are corrected accordingly.
Scaling
In FBX files, the scene scaling is normally also saved - which is why there is no separate import setting for this - and is also loaded correctly into Cinema 4D. If there is no scaling in the file, the normal centimeter scaling, as used by Cinema 4D by default, is used. When adding, no scene scaling is changed, but the size of the corresponding objects is imported correctly.
Visibility in the Viewport
The visibility of the objects is taken into account. Visible/invisible objects are assigned the corresponding editor/render mode. Child objects with the same visibility are set to undefined status.
