Fresnel Conductor
This Node is only available when editing a classic Cinema 4D Node Material.
Any metallic material can be simulated by its refractive index and absorption. Corresponding lists exist for many materials, from which the most important entries for metallic materials can be called up in this Node via presets. The vector for the Refractive Index defines the refractive properties of the material individually for the red, green and blue components of the incoming light. The specular properties are also affected by this, as they are calculated differently depending on the viewing angle on the surface. In general, higher Refractive Index values produce correspondingly stronger reflections.
Absorption has an even more specific effect on specular reflection, which can also be defined separately here for the red, green and blue light components. Larger Absorption values will lead to a corresponding amplification of the reflection in the respective color component.
This Node does not calculate reflections, but angle-dependent weightings. These weightings can be used to mitigate specular reflections using the ray tracing Node, for example.
