Scale[-∞..+∞]

This factor can be found at numerous locations throughout Cinema 4D when importing or exporting foreign formats. Therefore, don’t be surprised if the term ,export’ is used if this factor is seen in an import function (this factor is explained as a whole here).

This factor lets you scale files upon import/export, i.e., practically all relevant numerical values saved in the file or those to be saved will be multiplied by this factor and then saved - or interpreted when loaded.

The unit at the right in turn defines how upon

  • Import the numerical value saved in the file is converted to the current Cinema 4D unit. Example: if an X value of 1 is saved in the file and you define Feet, the X value will be converted to 30.48 cm in Cinema 4D (if centimeters are defined by default in Cinema 4D).
  • Export numerical values are saved in the file. Example: an X value is set to 100 cm in Cinema 4D. If you define Feet for export, the exported file will save a numerical value of 3.281 (1 meter = 3.281 feet).

More information about units and scaling can be found in the Project Scale section.

Match Forger Color Management

This option is active by default and ensures that all color values for Forger are automatically exported in the OpenIO sRGB color space. This also corresponds to the standard color space used within Forger. If this option is switched off, the color management from the global import/export settings will be used instead.

UVs

Here you can define if UV coordinates should be exported.

Vertex Colors

If you have a Vertex Color tag (it must contain the name Forger in the Basic tab), these colors will be exported to Forger.

Polygon Groups

Polygon groups can be defined in Forger - similar to how the Polygon Selection tag is defined in Cinema 4D. Polygon groups can be defined in Forger - similar to how the Polygon Selection tag is defined in Cinema 4D. In Cinema 4D, these will be saved in a to GoZ Polygon Group tag (this will, for example, be created when the respective Forger files are imported).

Enable this option if polygon groups should be exported.

Connect With Children

When exporting, Cinema 4D will take into consideration all geometry that lies on the top hierarchical level, including all Child objects, i.e., a cube beneath a Null object or a sphere beneath a cylinder (incl. this) will be exported - combined to a single object.

Disable the Connect With Children option if you only want to export the top-most hierarchy with out Child objects. In the aforementioned example, only the cylinder would be exported.

This option will also be evaluated in conjunction with the export commands (e.g., Export Selected Objects).

Materials

If you have assigned (Node)Materials, these can be exported to Forger. Due to the limited material system, only a few properties (such as color, roughness, etc.) will be exported.

It is, however, recommended to create the final material in the end application to prevent any loss of data during exchange. For example, the Forger material Lit Sphere is not supported.
