Triplanar

Thanks to the Triplanar Node, up to six shaders can be projected from the six main directions while blending smoothly. This can make the unfolding of UV coordinates unnecessary for complex shaped objects.
Note:

This Node is only available when editing a classic Cinema 4D Node Material.

Quad mapping is a particularly popular projection type for textures, as it can be used to add materials to almost any object shape. The distortions of the projected textures are kept within limits because the projection is flat from all six compass directions. The only disadvantage of this is the often hard, visible edges where the projections coming from different directions hit the object. The Triplanar Node can mitigate this undesirable effect by calculating smooth transitions between projections.
